"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." first acts are mini-movies, which is why it's so exciting to share the opening scene of the show's upcoming ninth episode, "Repairs." Promotional materials tease that Coulson and comrades are "haunted by a mysterious force that threatens to destroy them all, and only a secret from May's past can save them."
This exclusive sneak peek clip provides a stunning look at the aforementioned force. It's a quiet day in a convenience store at a gas station in Batesville. A cashier reads the headlines: "Laboratory Accident Kills 4: Lone Survivor Questioned After Particle Accelerator Explosion."
The doorbell chimes, and don't ya just know who walks in? The lone survivor in the explosion pictured in the newspaper. She scoops up paper towels and milk. But the cashier demands to know if she caused the accident. She warns him to stay away.
And that's when things get Marvel-ous. He blocks her exit and is suddenly attacked by flying cans. He barks, "You did that?" The woman denies having power over the goods and an entire shelf smashes the cashier, as if he was pushed over by the same invisible force that made cans fly. She warns the cashier, "Get away from me!" He flees outside but halts, dumbfounded by gas pumps on the pavement, leaking. He runs as gasoline flows toward already burning newspapers. Inside, the woman hunches and begs, "Lord, please not again."
But of course it happens again: another explosion. End scene.
The female survivor later whimpers to Agent Coulson that she is haunted: "Wherever I go, things turn bad." Just how bad will things get in "Repairs"? What could Agent May's secret from her past have to do with a brutal, invisible force? Share your thoughts (and questions) below.
