When's It Back? Monday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. on NBC

Red Reddington is ready for round two. Judging by NBC's marketing campaign — consisting of the big baddie-gone-good played by James Spader gracing fake covers of seemingly every major magazine ever — that's pretty much all you need to know. And we're not really going to argue with that.

Where We Left Off: First of all, Berlin is not a place or even a state of mind. It's a he, and a really, really bad one at that. Unfortunately, he's now in the wind, leaving Elizabeth Keen and Red to seek him out. One person they won't be looking for, however, is Tom Keen, whom they think they shot and left to bleed out but forgot that that never really works out on television.

But before Liz left bloody Tom, he whispered in her ear, "Your father is alive." Gasp! And that father is… well, it really might be Red after all. In the last scenes of the finale, Liz tells Red about Tom's message, and he assures her that her father — whose identity she can never know for her own sake — died the day he saved her from that house fire. The last thing we saw was Red at home alone, taking off his shirt and revealing his back covered in burn scars.

As for the rest of the crew, Meera is no more; she suffered a pretty nasty, throat-slitting fate during the finale. Cooper is hanging on by a thread, booking serious time in the ICU after being shot by the same Berlin lackey that knocked off Meera. Other than being on the scene for Meera's death, Ressler was largely on the sidelines for the finale, but we haven't forgotten the way he looked at Keen throughout the second half of the first season.

What We Know About Season 2: Krysten Ritter, Lee Tergesen, and Mary-Louise Parker will be showing up for the premiere, and Pee-Wee Herman is coming! Paul Reubens is set to appear in multiple episodes as a man involved in the criminal underworld and is "gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red's orbit," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly. In the meantime, since Red's FBI task force was essentially dismantled by the end of Season 1, his protocol inevitably will change.

Our Burning Question: Is Tom Keen really good or bad? We know we're supposed to still be asking about Liz's dad, but we don't care. Maybe it's just us, but we think somewhere down the line, evil undercover Tom fell hard for his wife (oops!) and still wants to see her safe. We anticipate some of those true colors will be revealed whenever Liz takes up with Ressler (because that's inevitable, right?) and he gets struck with some raging jealousy.
