When's It Back? Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on CBS
Where We Left Off: Penny and Leonard got engaged, Raj and Emily got horizontal, and recurring guest star Wil Wheaton got an audition for Sharknado 2 (which went well, since we saw him in the finished film).
Sheldon threw a hissy fit and went on a soul-searching walkabout (actually, train ride-about) after the university refused to allow him to change his area of study, and Leonard told him he wouldn’t continue living with him when he and Penny got married. Plus, in what could potentially be the show’s greatest comedic pairing ever, sad-sack comic book guy Stuart became the injured Mrs. Wolowitz’s caretaker, and the two became immediate BFFs.
What We Know About Season 8: After the cast’s well-publicized contract negotiations delayed the start of production — and netted Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting salaries of $1 million per episode — Season 8 kicks off with back-to-back episodes, as the show temporarily returns to its original Monday night spot in the lineup.
Sheldon makes his way back home, courtesy of Leonard and Amy, who unexpectedly bond while driving to Arizona to pick him up. Penny gets a new job as a pharmaceutical rep at Bernadette’s company, which causes friction between the friends and delights Amy, who sees her chance to pit them against each other and insinuate herself even further into each of their lives.
Sheldon becomes a university professor... with Howard as one of his students (we’d check that apple for worms, Sheldon), and Penny and Leonard get married! Nah, just kidding on that last one: Series creator Chuck Lorre says their relationship will continue along smoothly, but there are no plans to see them hitched this season.
Our Burning Question: They kissed last season... how far will Shamy take their relationship in Season 8?
