On camera, "The Originals" star Daniel Gillies is serious and brooding, elegant and gentlemanly.
Off camera, he's the set's biggest jokester. His co-stars have repeatedly called him the funniest guy on set — Joseph Morgan recently told Yahoo TV about their hilarious, ongoing pranking battle. His witty, dry sense of humor often leaves the cast and crew in stitches.
So, it was no wonder when we emailed Gillies some questions about this week's epic Season 1 finale, airing at 8 p.m. on The CW, he couldn't resist cutting up a little. Seriously, we can understand why "The Originals" cast are constantly cracking — because we couldn't stop laughing ourselves while reading his answers!
Elijah has threatened to kill Marcel himself if Klaus doesn't. Is that an empty threat?
Absolutely not. I think Elijah is outraged. If anything threatens his family or the machinations of the Mikaelson empire, Elijah will seek to remove the threat.
Klaus makes a "heartbreaking decision" in the finale. Can you elaborate on that and how that affects Elijah?
Everything that affects Niklaus, affects Elijah.
What can you tell us about the finale's cliffhanger?
What was it like filming Elijah's last scene of the season? Who was involved?
Gary Busey, Kim Kardashian, and Carrot Top. Harrowing, to say the least.
You guys are already starting production on the second season. Anything you can tease us about the new season?
There's going to be a lot more Busey.
Once, I filled his dressing room with antlers. I left a note on the severed head of the stag on the doormat reading: "Heads up!! I'm Horny for Jo-Mo!!"
Javelin, stealing bicycles from distracted teenagers at Trader Joe's, chicken fighting, salsa (eating large quantities — not that dancing stuff), and building monuments of The Edge from U2 out of mozzarella cheese.
We look remarkably similar. I wish I could sing the karaoke version of "Who Let the Dogs Out?" as well as he does.
"The Originals" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
