'Community' Announces Premiere Date, Release Schedule [Video]

Community is back March 17, but why have us tell you? Better to hear it from the (remaining) cast themselves:

Season 6 premieres with back-to-back episodes on Yahoo Screen. Episodes will be released weekly, broadcast-style rather than the Netflix binge-release model.

Yahoo Screen isn't network television, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Content restrictions are a little looser, though Jim Rash (Dean Pelton) says not to expect creator Dan Harmon to turn it into a TV-MA comedy: "I don't think Dan wanted to suddenly bring in cussing; it wasn't the world we had been in." It will mean some episodes will go 21 minutes long and some will go 24, so fewer things get left on the cutting room floor because of time.

The cast is looking a little sparse with the fresh departure of Yvette Nicole Brown (a regular on CBS's The Odd Couple premiering Feb. 19) following the exits of Chevy Chase and Donald Glover. Jonathan Banks and John Oliver, who took their place at the study room table last season, have full-time gigs too: Banks is on the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul and Oliver fronts his own HBO series, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.

However, Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Keith David (Enlisted) have been brought in to shore up the ranks. David has been dropping the jaws of the cast. Ken Jeong says that every week, "He's turned all of his lines into my favorite lines of the episode." And Alison Brie says that working with Brewster is "like inviting another friend over to come and play."

Few comedies have made it to six seasons, and fewer still were still funny by then. But the return of Harmon to the show in Season 5 was accompanied by a creative resurgence that showed no signs of flagging. What do you think? Six seasons and a movie?
