"American Idol" hopeful Malaya Watson was sent packing after she failed to crack the Top 7 on the reality competition show, but the Michigan native, who became a fan-favorite because of her perky personality, already has big plans laid out post-"Idol," starting with finishing high school.
The 16-year-old told Yahoo TV that she'll be back at her old high school stomping grounds this week and is already prepping for a little "Idol" fame. "I expect all these people that used to talk about me to try and be my best friend," Malaya said jokingly before adding that she's already had a couple crazy fan run-ins. "Somebody ran over to me and yelled, 'Oh, my God' and then asked me to sign their face."
Like every other high school junior she has to take care of a couple important tasks before she can head out on the "American Idol" tour this summer. "I gotta take the ACTs," she lamented.
Naturally, the precocious teen is already dreaming of her next big gig. Malaya said she really enjoyed being on television and if she doesn't pursue singing full-time, she'd like to continue to entertain people with her quick wit.
"I still want to do music, but I've always wanted to do movies. Like something comedic because, you know, I'm a funny kid," she dished. "I've always wanted to be on a Nickelodeon show or a Disney Channel show or play on 'Modern Family' or 'Victorious.'"
