‘Bachelor Pad’ Villain Kasey Kahl Defends Atrocious Singing Voice

When Kasey "Guard and Protect Your Heart" Kahl sings, a million frogs croak back in unison. He is their leader. So last night, The Famous watched "Bachelor Pad" for the first time ever. We were surprised by two things: one is that Jake Pavelka came off as a reasonable player in the "game" versus the show's resident power couple, Vienna Girardi and Kahl, who out-creeps Pavelka on his creepiest day. (That's saying a lot.) The other thing is that Kahl, whose speaking voice sounds like he's got a frog ensconced in his throat, cannot resist an on-camera serenade. In a moment alone, Girardi requested a love ballad, Kasey-style, struggling to keep a straight face as her man warble-croaked such heartfelt lyrics as: "I gave you a promise ring/I put it on your finger."

"I'm not a singer, I'm not going to try out for 'American Idol,' I promise," Kahl explained on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning. "It was just a funny little moment where I was trying to make a funny little song. Because she kept begging me, you've got to sing me a Kasey song!"

Alas, Kahl's sweet vocal stylings might never be heard inside the "Bachelor Pad" manse again. Monday night's episode ended with a "Soprano"-style ending to a tense rose ceremony, leaving viewers hanging over which rival (and villain) got the boot: Kahl or Pavelka. Our money's on Pavelka. Kahl is far too dramatic and fun to love to hate, so an early reality-TV exit would be too soon.
