Afternoon Links: Harrison Ford Digs His Video Games, Bro

Harrison Ford has a reputation for being a bit of a grump. But screw that, dude: Have you seen him ever play a video game? Check him out as he tries to figure out "Uncharted 3," the latest in the series of games that Mark Wahlberg was trying to make into a movie. This clip might as well be titled "World's Most Awesome Grandpa Explains How Gaming Works." [/film]

Mark Romanek, director of the criminally underrated "One Hour Photo" and "Never Let Me Go," is said to be the leading candidate to helm "The Lost Symbol," another in the Dan Brown series that includes "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons." We've never been a big fan of these movies, but we're happy for Romanek who deserves his first shot at the big time. (OK, his second.) [Deadline]

If you'll indulge us, we'd also like to mourn the passing of Norman Corwin. A pioneer during the age of radio, Corwin was a celebrated writer in whatever medium he worked in, including screenplays. (He was nominated for his script to the Kirk Douglas/Vincente Minnelli film "Lust for Life.") The former chair of the MPAA's documentary awards committee, he influenced everyone from Robert Altman to Gene Roddenberry. He was also an inspiring teacher to a lot of young journalism students who wouldn't be where we are now without him. He was 101 and will be deeply missed. [Los Angeles Times]
