Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Who Inspired Her Pixie Cut

When Jennifer Lawrence chopped off her long locks for a super short pixie cut, she caused a media storm. But what you may not know is who inspired her new 'do. In an interview with W magazine, the blond beauty revealed how she stays confident about her bold choice. "Whenever I start feeling like a boy, I just tell myself I look like Mia Farrow, and I'm like, 'O.K.,'" Jennifer says.

And as it turns out, back in the day, Mia also made headlines for her über short tresses. It was long rumored that Vidal Sassoon gave her a pixie cut for the 1968 film "Rosemary's Baby" and that Frank Sinatra, Mia's hubby at the time, was so against the look that he served her with divorce papers after seeing it.

But in a letter to the New York Times last year, the Hollywood legend set the record straight. She said, "I had literally cut it myself earlier that year — with a pair of fingernail scissors." She added, "This was long before I ever heard of Vidal Sassoon. My then-boyfriend, Frank Sinatra, loved the cut, and so I kept it short. (I purchased some hair scissors; then, as now, I cut it myself.)"

Vidal never dispelled the rumor that he cut her hair and took a lot of flak for the cut. The hairstylist told the Hollywood Reporter back in 2011 that Barbara Walters was so shocked by the actress's closely cropped coif that she accused him of "making beautiful women look like boys."

But Mia explains that in truth, Vidal trimmed her 1 1/2-inch hair to 1 inch as part of a publicity stunt for 1968's "Rosemary's Baby" and added, "I intend no disrespect to Mr. Sassoon, but he had nothing to do with my haircut. Neither, I can assure you, did my divorce from Frank Sinatra have to do with my haircut."
