‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Kat Graham Premieres New Video for ‘Power’

Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" likely know that there's more to actress Kat Graham than Bonnie Bennett. The multi-talented performer already made her mark on the music world last year with her club hit "Put Your Graffiti On Me," and is now poised to release a debut album in the near future.

"Power" is the official lead single from the new project, and Yahoo Music is excited to offer the first look at the video for the tune — which is powerful indeed, filled with stunning imagery, much of it conceptualized by Graham herself.

Graham herself is excited about the clip, the looks of which she had a considerable hand in designing. "We shot this video a couple months ago in downtown Los Angeles. When I heard this song, I knew that there were different looks to how I could present it. There was the vulnerable Rolla look, the black-and-white ode to '90s photography a la Herb Ritts, which we shot for the lyric video. And then there was this fashion brave almost costume-y aspect to the song — a more literal take and a deeper characterization of the lyrics," Graham explained.

"I love producing, which is a fun fact that not many people know about me. So I had the idea to style myself," she added. "I wanted the visuals to match the lyrics. I thought that there was power in being naked with your emotions. Which is why we did the solid-gold look. It took two days to get that gold out of my hair," she noted.

"My second favorite look was the breast plate with the black backdrop. I worked with my best friend Alissah Brooks to create that breastplate from scratch, and we spray-painted it in my garage. Everything else was costume rental except for the headdress which is actually a shoulder piece that I created with Alissah — it’s a bunch of my necklaces sewn onto the shoulder pad that I had sewed gold buttons on to.

"I love working with creative people and this music video was no exception. I'm excited to debut this clip with Yahoo Music, and give my fans another take of this song."
