New Kids on the Block Member Joey McIntyre Uninjured in Boston Marathon Explosion

The explosions that rocked the Boston Marathon finish line Monday touched many in the pop music community. Joey McIntyre, a member of Eighties superstar Boston-based pop group New Kids on the Block, actually ran in the event but was uninjured.

"There was an explosion by the finish line about five minutes after I finished," he Tweeted. "I'm OK but I'm sure there are many hurt."

“Just Heard that Joey McIntyre is OK!” Tweeted his concerned band mate Donnie Wahlberg when he received the news of the disaster. "Scared for everyone else in Boston. Prayer for Boston please."

The Backstreet Boys, who were part of the generation of boy bands after New Kids on the Block, Tweeted, "We’re sending our thoughts and prayers to everyone in Boston today."

More contemporary rockers echoed their sentiments: "All our prayers and love to everyone affected by the explosion," Paramore wrote. "Boston Be Strong," commented Fall Out Boy bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz.
