Lights, camera, FASHION: Bonnie McKee's official "American Girl" video is here! The previously behind-the-scenes hitmaker responsible for eight #1 singles pulled out the big guns with an arsenal of spiked slurpees, techincolor hair and salute-able booty shorts with her homage to being a girl in America.

One of the most memorable quotes that define the good ol' U.S. of A is the line in the Declaration of Independence that reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Singer Bonnie McKee has planted her studded American flag in the pop world with her triumphant step into the spotlight, endowed with unalienable talent and the self-evident truth that she's on her way to being the next big thing. Now that there's some visual reference to fawn over, here's a few things we learned about America from Bonnie Mckee:

1. This American Life

There is no doubt that this girl is living IRL with a double hair flip. But the video also gives a pretty accurate insight into young American life. I personally spent hours upon hours driving to and from convenience stores in high school, fawning over boys and getting into trouble with my best girlfriends. Whether it's nostalgia for the responsibility-free past, relatability to your present adventure-seeking young life, or looking forward to getting your license and a fake id, "American Girl" hits a sweet spot that's beyond just a fun, sexy video.

2. Liberty Belles

Besides freeing herself from some clothes in a drive-thru car wash, McKee showed us that sometimes we need to experience that sense of freedom from our daily routines. Whether that is a drive through the hills, soaking up the sun poolside, or blowing up a vintage Mustang convertible. Freedom and catharsis go hand-in-hand, and we all need that release once in a while. The song isn't bogged down with love, teen angst, or some other complicated metaphor about humanity, but is a complete immersion and clarity of yourself, what you want and not letting anyone stop you. Which brings us to our third point:

3. The Pursuit of Happiness

Bonnie McKee's entire life has been a pursuit of happiness. From signing at 16-years-old to pursue a singing career, to struggling with her place in the music world with her debut album, to stepping out of the spotlight path to support other artists, McKee hasn't let the extreme highs, deep lows, and unending tunnels in her career stop her from having the ultimate goal of pop stardom. And she's doing it, homegirl is doing it! We can all learn from McKee's story.

But overlooking the complicated conversation of the modern American dream, happiness can always be found at the bottom of a slurpee.
