James Durbin Becomes a Newlywed on New Year’s Eve

Idol rocker James Durbin had a rockin' New Year's Eve indeed last night, when he married his longtime girlfriend Heidi Lowe at a small private ceremony in a redwood forest chapel in his hometown of Santa Cruz. According to People magazine, the 85 guests at the intimate, rustic wedding included James's Season 10 "American Idol" castmates Stefano Langone, Casey Abrams, and Haley Reinhart, while James and Heidi's 2-year-old son, Hunter, served as the ringbearer.

After the ceremony, Stefano tweeted: "Beautiful wedding! Just ended now and were on our way to the reception! Owww party on! 2012 baby it's gunna be the best year of our lives!!!" Later in the evening, James's new bride posted her own happily capslocked tweet: "I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE COOLNESS OF THIS NIGHT."

It sounds like it was a cool night for sure, since People also reports that at the reception, Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate surprised guests with a performance of Queensryche's "Take Hold Of The Flame," one of the rockin' couple's favorite songs.

"We are so in love and happy that we got to share our special day with our closest family and friends," the couple told People. "This wedding was the perfect way to kick off the New Year. We are looking forward to living happily ever after."

Congratulations to the lucky couple, and best wishes to them in 2012!
