Each Voice season, fans eagerly await the premiere night's opening number, when the four superstar coaches combine their diverse talents for a memorable kickoff performance. But fans need not wait till next Monday, when The Voice begins again, as Yahoo Music has this season's full premiere performance right here.
And it's hella good.
As longtime regular coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton take the stage with much-hyped new recruits Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams to sing No Doubt's "Hella Good," it marks a full-circle moment for the cast's two Season 7 additions: "Hella Good," off the album Rock Steady, was the very first collaboration between Gwen and Pharrell, way back in 2001. (Pharrell co-penned the heavy-breathing partystarter with Gwen, No Doubt's Tony Kanal, and Pharrell's Neptunes production team partner, Chad Hugo.)
The success of "Hella Good" led to the Neptunes teaming with Gwen for her 2004 solo smash "Hollaback Girl" (which Gwen and Pharrell performed on a Voice results show last season) and her 2006 hit "Wind It Up," as well as Gwen guesting on Pharrell's solo single, "Can I Have It Like That."
And now, years later, the two are sitting together on the Voice panel. When Pharrell, playing drums during the coaches' "Hella Good" performance, sings to Gwen, "Who would've thought it'd be the two of us?"... well, it's a very cute moment.
The Voice Season 7 with Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine premieres Monday night at 8 p.m. on NBC. Additionally, Gwen recently confirmed that she's been working in the studio with Pharrell on her first solo material in eight years.
