It's hard to believe that it's been seven seasons since Blake Lewis beatboxed his way through one of the most memorable "American Idol" performances of all time, Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name," and historically dueted with Doug E. Fresh on that year's finale. Since then, the Season 6 runner-up has put out two albums, "Audio Day Dream" (which sold 350,000 copies and spawned the top 40 single "Break Anotha") and "Heartbreak on Vinyl" (the title track of which went to #1 twice on Billboard's dance charts). And now he's gearing up to release the album he considers his best yet, "Portrait of a Chameleon," on his own label.
But somehow, between recording, performing, and creating his own sample library of beatboxed mouth sounds, Blake has found the time to watch "American Idol" Season 13 and form opinions on the current top five. And he also found time to visit "The Day After" to share those opinions today!
Who does he think will win this season? Which contestant does he think could have the most viable career after Season 13 is over? And what sage advice does he have for any "American Idol" contestant, regardless of placement? We talk about all this and more in today's chat.
