Taylor Swift has promised that her upcoming album Red will reflect all the fire of the color it's named after, and her latest single--just released on iTunes Monday night--is actually a happy, hopeful tune.
"Begin Again" details a new start with a new, appreciative love interest. Swift debuted the tune on Good Morning America, explaining, "It's actually a song about when you've gotten through a really bad relationship, and you finally dust yourself off and go on that first date after a horrible breakup."
The jury's still out as to whom Swift is singing about, but the ballad's lyrics--which detail a date with a clearly well-bred young man ("You got here early and you stand and wait...You pulled my chair out and helped me in") with strong family ties ("You start to talk about the movies that your family watches every single Christmas")--point to her current beau, Conor Kennedy of the iconic Kennedy clan. Well, at least more so than any of her other flames present or past...but you can listen to the song yourself to judge.
As usual, Swift's single is already rocketing up the iTunes songs chart. Less than 24 hours after release, and at this posting time, it sits at No. 10. Her first single off the album, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," is holding at No. 3.
Swift's album Red will be released on October 22.
