Taylor Swift Offered Plum Role In ‘Les Miserables’

What's the next career coup for the girl who has just about conquered it all--that is, Taylor Swift? Well, it looks as if the blond superstar is headed for a major role on the silver screen, and this time she'll be trying out her pipes on some very different (for her) material.

As reported and confirmed by Broadway World, Swift has been offered the role of Eponine in the upcoming film adaptation of the smash Broadway musical Les Miserables. She has not formally accepted yet, but is expected to take the offer.

Swift was up against some serious competition for this plum assignment--including musical theatre veteran and Glee star Lea Michele, who has played the role before. Seasoned actors Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood were also vying for the part.

Those who have already committed to the film include Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter. Amanda Seyfried is reportedly being offered the role of Cossette.

Les Miserables will begin filming in March, with an expected release date of December 7, 2012.
