Congratulations To New Grandpa George Strait!

Hey, congrats, George Strait--we hear that you're a brand-new grandpa this month! Strait, who will turn 60 in May, broke the happy news on Friday night while playing a date in Phoenix.

The parents are Strait's son Bubba--an accomplished songwriter who is credited on more than half the tracks off his dad's latest album--and daughter-in-law Tamara. The babe was born on Thursday, February 2. This is the couple's first child, and also the first grandchild for George and wife Norma Strait.

Strait fittingly informed the Phoenix audience of the new arrival after finishing up a performance of his hit "I Saw God Today"--which, of course, has a touching verse about the birth of a baby. He snuck in the announcement over the cheers of the crowd...watch for yourselves!

There's no official word yet on whether the baby is a boy or girl, but several sources are reporting it's a boy. Also no word on what the little bundle's name is, but given that Bubba's Christian name is "George Strait, Jr.", I'm unabashedly hoping for "George Strait III."

This isn't the only event Strait is celebrating. This week, the King of Country racked up his 85th top 10 single on the Billboard Country Songs chart ("Love's Gonna Make It Alright"). This brings him one step closer to beating Eddy Arnold's record for the most top 10s in the history of the chart. Arnold, who died in 2008, scored 92 songs in the top 10 over his career. Just seven more to go, George...

Be sure to leave your congrats for the Strait family here!
