Sometimes the Internet seems like it's lost its edge and/or creativity; you know because of all the cat videos and bad cover songs on YouTube. But every now and again someone steps out of the box and puts the technology to great use.
Case in point: Google Street Scene, a very entertaining mashup using Google Street View and memorable scenes from movies. The entertaining idea being that because Google really is everywhere these days, their impressive street view cameras also happened to tavel through time and space and other worlds to capture pivotal moments in blockbusters like "The Dark Knight," "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."
We highly recommend heading over to Google Street Scene to click their innovative photo gallery, but here are a few of our favorites to get you started:
The Dark Knight: We've always wondered where exactly in Gotham City the cross-dressing Joker laid waste to that hospital. Turns out that, according to the Street Scene team, it all went down on the aptly-titled Emergency Dr.
Star Wars: A New Hope: Here we are on just another average day on the dusty streets of the desert planet Tatooine, aka the birthplace of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker's early stomping grounds. The fun in this photo lies in the Street Scene team's spot on specificity, 3062 Outer Kerner Way, Mos Eisley.
Tommy Boy: Here we have a moment captured just before Tommy and bench part ways, so to speak. "Son of a-!" The great thing about this location is that unlike Emergency Dr. and Tatooine, you could theoretically go visit this spot on North Michigan Ave. in Chicago.
