Crazy body armor and science fiction go together like PB&J. From the starkly uniform Stormtroopers in "Star Wars" to the set-shackled kaiju-fighting boys and girls of "Pacific Rim" to Matt Damon and his tricked out exoskeleton in "Elysium," suiting up in intricate combat gear has been an integral part of the genre look and feel since its beginnings.

The latest star to get a full metal upgrade? Tom Cruise, looking unrecognizable and badass in this new poster from his upcoming film "Edge of Tomorrow."

Cruise just tackled the sci-fi genre with "Oblivion" (2013), but this time around, he's donning some seriously heavy metal in order to play Lt. Col. Bill Cage in this live action adaptation of author Hiroshi Sakurazaka's light novel "All You Need Is Kill," to which the film owes its original title. In the story, Cage is trapped in a day-long time loop where he fights and dies over and over again — think of it like a super high stakes "Groundhog Day."

Whatever the case, we're definitely going to be seeing a lot of it as Tom Cruise's worst day ever plays out over... and over... and over again.
