"Harry Potter" cast his last spell this weekend, and there are only two more bites of "The Twilight Saga" left. But thankfully there's a new film adaptation of a hugely popular book series on its way to create another fan sensation. It's "The Hunger Games," based on the first novel of the trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Take a look at the exclusive motion poster featuring a brand-new (and highly combustible) logo based on the story's iconic mockingjay pin.
"The Hunger Games" stars Jennifer Lawrence -- an Oscar-nominee for last year's "Winter's Bone" -- as Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old living in the post-apocalyptic country of Panem. Every year, a boy and girl are chosen from each of the country's 12 districts to fight each other to the death until only one remains. Katniss is from one of the poorest districts, but she is skilled in archery and hunting, which makes her a fierce competitor. Katniss wears a mockingjay pin -- the flaming symbol on the poster -- which is a sign of rebellion against Panem's oppressive government.
Also starring Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz, "The Hunger Games" will open on March 23, 2012. To find out more about the movie, check out the Lionsgate booth in the main hall at this week's San Diego Comic-Con.
