"Michael Bay" is trending on Twitter right now, but for all the wrong reasons.
No, the mega-director's name isn't out there because of some huge "Transformers" movie reveal. Rather, he's making the rounds because he stormed off stage today in the middle of a big ol' presentation at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Bay, who was onstage a grand total of 47 seconds, was there to discuss Samsung's new curved HDTVs. But when an apparent teleprompter error (or an error by its operator) stifled his scripted speech, he decided to go — and fast.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he said as he whipped around, swiftly walking off stage. The other presenter onstage was left to pick up the pieces: "Ladies and gentlemen, let's thank Michael Bay for joining us." The audience graciously clapped their hands.
Bay quickly took to his blog to issue a mea culpa:
Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES — I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down — then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing.
At least his response seems pretty honest. Since it was captured on camera, he couldn't have really blamed anything else; surely not a group of attackers wielding an air conditioning unit.
Frequent celebrity tweeter Zach Braff even weighed in with a "Transformers" joke:
That teleprompter was obviously a Decepticon. pic.twitter.com/Uz6GHWHTgt— Zach Braff (@zachbraff) January 7, 2014
Others on Twitter also decided to have their own field day:
If only Michael Bay had this handy. pic.twitter.com/zHwdsMi4Gb— Jenelle Riley (@jenelleriley) January 7, 2014

One brave observer stood up for Bay:
Be cool about Michael Bay. Public speaking and a tech twist, I'd have jet as well. Haters gonna hate. #CES2014— Michael Trowbridge (@Scynfewl) January 7, 2014
Another indicated she couldn't stop laughing:
