Meet the New Mutants (and Robots) of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

It's freezing in most parts of the country right now, but Empire Magazine had us looking to the warmer days of the future — Summer 2014, to be exact — as yesterday they released a series of covers featuring characters from the upcoming mutant mash-up, "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
There were some familiar faces, including Jennifer Lawrence as a very blue and very naked Mystique, Halle Berry as Storm, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and, of course, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. It's great to see the old gang of the original "X-Men" trilogy and the young recruits of "X-Men: First Class" (2011) coming together for the space- and time-bending adventure, but we were most excited to see all of the new faces — yes, even the ire-inspiring Quicksilver.
Here are some of the characters new to the "X-Men" cinematic universe that you can expect to see in "Days of Future Past," courtesy of the art directors at Empire Magazine.

First up, here's a look at the #Sentinel Mark I, circa 1973. #XMen #Empire25 @EmpireMagazine pic.twitter.com/gNcwwc68FX

Here's one of the very first Sentinels, designed and built back in the '60s. Very Cold War/"The Day the Earth Stood Still" kind of stuff, and a stark contrast to ...

... the 'upgraded' modern-day version of the Sentinel. Sleeker, sexier, more organic ... and even more terrifying and dangerous.

The "Game of Thrones" scene-stealer stars as the brilliant if woefully misguided military scientist responsible for the creation of the Sentinels, and ultimately the end of mutantkind.
Omar Sy as Lucas Bishop
The future is near and with it comes @OmarSy, bringing Bishop to life on the big screen. #XMen #Empire25 pic.twitter.com/YJ3TnGBlQI — Evan Peters (@tweetsonurface) January 28, 2014
"The Intouchables" star plays Bishop, a member of Xavier's Security Enforcers, a mutant police force of the dystopian future. In the comics, Bishop travels back to the 20th century, where he fights alongside the X-Men before becoming one of their chief antagonists.
Fan Bingbing as Clarice Ferguson/Blink
Fan Bingbing joins the #XMen cast as Blink, a new mutant capable of creating teleportation portals. New #Empire25! pic.twitter.com/twAcreeN3q
— Lucas Till (@lucastill) January 27, 2014
The Chinese superstar plays this fan favorite, a mutant with the ability to teleport. Blink is a relatively new addition to the "X-Men" universe, having first appeared in "Uncanny X-Men" #317 (1994).
Adan Canto as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot
And now... @adancanto brings the heat as Sunspot in #XMen and on @empiremagazine cover. #Empire25 pic.twitter.com/5oMeFdiFUF — Booboo and Fivel (@RealBoobooFivel) January 28, 2014
"The Following" star Adan Canto brings some Brazilian flavor to the mix as Sunspot, a mutant with the ability to absorb and channel solar power. He will probably be described by many fans as 'hot,' in more than one sense of the term.
Booboo Stewart as James Proudstar/Warpath

The "Twilight" alum trades his shapeshifting powers for superhuman strength and speed as Warpath, a mutant who at first blamed the X-Men for the death of his brother but later became a longtime member of the militant X-Men offshoot, X-Force. And finally, there's ...
Evan Peters as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver

We're sure he'll look better in action. Right?
