The notion of a teen sex comedy about a couple of hard-up nerds looking to score is nothing new, but the upcoming "Date and Switch" has a more modern take on it. Best buds Michael (Nicholas Braun) and Matty (Hunter Cope) have always confided in each other as they tried and failed to get girls. But then Matty finally admits to his friend that he's a "gay dude" ("Gay Dude" was actually the working title for the movie), and suddenly the whole dynamic of their relationship changes.
Also starring in the comedy is Dakota Johnson as Em, the girl Michael is pursuing even though she used to date Matty. It's the first of several big films for Johnson this year, including "Need for Speed" and the Shakespeare adaptation "Cymbeline," before she really breaks out as the female lead in the big-screen version of "Fifty Shades of Grey" in 2015. The cast also includes Zach Cregger, Sarah Hyland ("Modern Family") Gary Cole, Megan Mullally, and Nick Offerman (who worked with screenwriter Alan Yang on TV's "Parks and Recreation").
"Date and Switch" will come out in limited release and be available on demand this Valentine's Day.
