Adam Lambert EXCLUSIVE: Being a gay icon is challenging

Adam Lambert may have hoards of fans in America and be stepping into Freddie Mercury's shoes fronting Queen this summer, but that doesn't make him immune to some insecurities.



As one of the few gay icons in America, the former American Idol contestant told us it can be tough at times to hold this title.

He said: "It's nice to be one of the few gay icons in America but it can be a bit challenging and difficult.

"But it's not something to stop me from making it [as a singer]. By doing this album people can talk about it."

And judging by Adam's talent, people will be talking about his music for a long time.

"I think I am an individual," he told us. "It's also been a challenge for me, I'm polarizing it's an interesting journey.

"I'm not consciously strategizing, I'm just being myself and that can be hard for people to accept."

Adam's album 'Tresspassing' is out in Spring
