For a little while Tuesday, it was the reunion for which every Destiny's Child fan has been waiting. Pop queen Beyonce and singer Michelle Williams came out to cheer on their friend and the third member of the former group, Kelly Rowland, as she toasted the release of her new solo album, Here I Am, at the Moet Rose Lounge at The Standard Hotel in NYC. Kelly looked hot in a black Cushnie et Ochs dress with cutouts, while Beyonce stunned in a one-sleeve Lanvin jumpsuit, and Michelle rocked a feminine LBD.
Of course, the "Independent Women" weren't the only ones in attendance. Estelle, Adrienne Bailon, and more also swung by the soiree.
Kelly's third album was supposed to drop last September, but apparently, it was worth the wait. The new single "Motivation," which features Lil Wayne, is perched atop the R&B/Hip-Hop charts, and is the "Dilemma" diva's most successful solo track on the charts so far. As the A.V. Club wrote, "Who knew she had [this] in her? Rowland has typically been one of R&B's more reserved presences, but on her third album, Here I Am, she sounds positively liberated -- it's as if the same radioactive spider that gave Beyonce her superhuman confidence finally bit Rowland, too."
The 30-year-old, who just announced plans to tour with Chris Brown in September, told Billboard.com that something was different while recording the album this time. "As an artist I've allowed myself to try different things in the studio," Rowland said. "Where I would have been a little scared, I allowed myself to just be. I wasn't afraid. That was one of the best parts of this album is the fact that there was nothing holding me back. The only thing that could have been holding me back would be myself."
