J.Lo Spreads the ‘Love’

Although she's scored a hit single with "On the Floor," Jennifer Lopez's new album Love? hasn't exactly been receiving rave reviews.

Rolling Stone writes: "Jennifer Lopez is a great idea. A gorgeous Nuyorican singer, movie star and, now, "American Idol" judge -- on paper, she's a perfect fit for a 21st-century pop culture that has collapsed old genre barriers. But the reality of Jennifer Lopez is ... blah. Love? arrives with shiny production credits -- Tricky Stewart and the-Dream, RedOne, Stargate. But it's undone by J.Lo's slight voice and slighter personality."

The Los Angeles Times says: "It's a limp, personality-free dance-pop collection with plenty of A-list collaborations, but none of the lightweight charm she once brought in hits like 'Waiting for Tonight' and 'Jenny From the Block.'"

Ouch!

Still, those harsh words didn't stop the 41-year-old mother of two from thoroughly enjoying herself at her album release party, held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood on Tuesday, where she sported big hair, a leather vest, and harem pants (yes, harem pants!).

"I'm excited for everyone to hear all of the album, but I think in particular some of the songs like 'What Is Love?,' 'One Love,' 'Run the World,' 'Papi,' 'Starting Over,' especially," J.Lo told MTV at the event. "I mean they all express different moments in love and that's what this album was about. You know, sometimes it's difficult, sometimes it's amazing, sometimes overwhelming, sometimes you just don't know what to do. And I hope that I captured all of that on this album."
