"Smile" singer Lily Allen reportedly has some happy news: the Brit and her husband of one year, Sam Cooper, are expecting their second child! The pop star, who's already mom to 8-month-old daughter Ethel Mary, is due in December, according to the U.K.'s Sunday Mirror. An unidentified friend told the newspaper that the pregnancy "was a surprise but Lily and Sam are thrilled." The source added, "The pair of them have loved every minute of parenthood so far and wanted to expand their brood quickly. So it's great timing."
It would be understandable if the couple didn't make a public announcement about the pregnancy. Allen miscarried in January 2008 while dating Chemical Brothers DJ Ed Simons. Then, in November 2010, when she was six months pregnant, she delivered a stillborn son that she was expecting with Cooper. While at the hospital, she was also treated for the blood-poisoning condition septicaemia. "I actually got really ill after he died ... It was really quite touch and go for a few days," Allen explained in a British TV documentary last year. "It was quite amazing how my friends reacted so much more to me being ill than to what I felt was the devastating part. I couldn't care less that I was on my death bed, I didn't even feel it." Allen revealed that the experience changed her forever, and it made her more grateful. "I think even though what happened to us is beyond devastating, it's made me realize what I have got, which I don't think I ever really did before. I don't think I ever realized how good I had it."
These days, Allen's life seems to be much sunnier both personally and professionally. In addition to the pregnancy news, she plans to release her first album in two years by the spring, The Mirror reports. Perhaps she should include a lullaby or two!
