She's best known for whipping up scrumptious spreads on her show "The Everyday Italian" and mentoring contestants on "Food Network Star," but despite her busy schedule, Giada De Laurentiis says she treasures spending time with her loved ones the most.

"Sundays mornings are the cherished moment," she tells omg!. "In the morning from when we wake up till about 2 p.m., I try to keep that as my family time. No matter what I am doing, that is my family time."

And this upcoming Sunday is sure to be extra special as Giada, 41, will be celebrating Mother's Day. Last year, the celebrity chef says her husband Todd Thompson and 4-year-old daughter Jade took over the kitchen and whipped up an amazing Mother's Day spread. "Todd and Jade made me breakfast," she shares. "The two of them go through the fridge and toss whatever is in there with some eggs and scramble it up and they serve it to me over a bed of arugula, because I am a big arugula fan."

The duo also presented her with a super special gift. "They gave me the most wonderful CD of the two of their favorite music so that I can listen to it in the car and when I am traveling, so that I can constantly think of them and have a reminder."

Not surprisingly, she suggests that others include their own personal touches when attempting to surprise mom on the holiday. "Think of the things that your mother likes," she notes. "Everybody's gotta eat, right? Think of the ingredients that your mom likes for breakfast." Then, get creative. "I am a lover of chocolate. I have always said to Todd, 'Why don't you make me something like chocolate chip pancakes or eggs and mix it in with some cocoa powder?'"

Though whether or not Giada will be served chocolate chip pancakes in bed this year for Mother's Day remains to be seen, it will be fun nevertheless . "I have such little time with my family, that I think just a chance to spend an afternoon or even any time of the day with my family is special enough."

Time is something she's often short on and she'll be the first to say that there is no such thing as being a perfect mother. "I'm not Wonder Woman," she admits. "You can't do it all. I always say that I could not do what I do without my husband, number one."

She continues, "I am not afraid to say that I have help. They are wonderful people and my job as a parent is that when I can't be there to parent my child, I hire the best possible people who can love her as much as I do, who enjoy their time with her, to parent her at that time."

Catch Giada De Laurentiis on the new season of "Food Network Star," which premieres this Saturday, May 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The Food Network.
