A woman Tara Reid claimed had "Cruel Intentions" against her has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
On Thursday, Maryam Hassan, 27, was found not guilty of two charges stemming from a London nightclub dispute with the "Sharknado" star, a rep for Southwark Crown Court confirms to omg!. It was alleged that the woman hit Reid in the face with a drinking glass at the private club Beat in Nov. 2012.
In addition to being found not guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, Hassan was cleared of one charge of racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm, or distress for allegedly waging a verbal assault against a bouncer who kicked her out of the club.
Reid, 38, was celebrating her birthday at the club — an exclusive spot where Justin Bieber has partied — when she became involved in an altercation with Hassan. The Hollywooder didn't attend the trial, but her statement to police was read in court and she said she feared she had been "blinded" after Hassan took a glass and smashed it in her face. The women had previously exchanged insults (Reid claimed Hassan called her a "slut" and "whore") and splashed drinks on one another.
Reid described Hassan, who is from Jarrow, England, as "desperate for attention," in her statement, according to U.K. newspaper The Independent. "I noticed a female who kept approaching the table a few times. … She came up to me and threw the contents of her drink over my chest. I reacted immediately and threw my drink over her. … She went crazy; she went psycho like Naomi Campbell. … It was so quick, she stood close to me within arms length, and smashed the glass in my face."
In court it was said that Reid, whose rep has not yet responded to omg!'s request for comment, suffered a corneal abrasion, which required a consultation with a plastic surgeon, U.K.'s Court News
