When Jennifer Aniston began dating Justin Theroux nearly two years ago, we all asked the same question.
One that’s followed her through every friendly set-up, casual romance ,or relationship attempt since her 2005 divorce from Brad Pitt (a split that’s become a seven-year tabloid sensation and now-Hollywood legend).
Will this one last? No, seriously Jen, will this one last?
As Aniston’s second wedding to actor and screenwriter Theroux looms before us, omg! investigates why Justin is “the one,” and why the 44-year-old has finally found her happy ending.
It was a slow burn. Unlike her fling with Levi's model and British man-about-town Paul Sculfor, or the intense on-and-off bouts with musician John Mayer, Aniston and Theroux had a relaxed and organic trajectory as co-workers, friends, then lovers.
Getting close on the 2010 set of the comedy "Wanderlust," Aniston played a stressed-out city gal to Theroux's compound guru. By spring 2011, when the pair was spotted enjoying friendly meals for two at her favorite restaurant, it became evident the relationship was headed somewhere else.
That summer, she was sweet enough on Justin to introduce him to her closest friends. They were off and running, with a solid foundation and support from their peers.
She let her guard down
. In February of 2011, Aniston gave perhaps the most insightful quote about her public persona. People magazine asked the blonde what she felt was the biggest misconception about her.
"That I'm unhappy," she said. "I'm really happy. Really!"
Yet in going public with Theroux, we saw an exuberance from Aniston, a candidness she was easy to put forward when she was married (who can forget "everything in moderation") but withdrew in the wake of her divorce.
In being courted by Theroux, we saw her smile, laugh, and exchange PDA freely. Photographer Terry Richardson posted photos to his online diary in those early days offering irrefutable proof that Justin was inspiring her to enjoy herself again.
Compatibility. Similar interests are a no-brainer in determining how long a couple will last. Jen and Justin have many a shared hobby. For starters, they play as hard as they work.
They've taken numerous trips to longtime Aniston retreat Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and be it lounging by the pool, hosting celeb couple friends like John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, or hiring a yacht for the day, both thoroughly enjoy their luxury between work commitments.
They also enjoy similar style. Sleek denim, countless leather jackets, the occasional fedora and Ray Bans for days -- the couple have such a duplicate aesthetic, they've often been accused of robbing each other's closets.
But it's not just material things that bind them. Their joint holiday card for 2011 revealed that, in lieu of gifts for their loved ones, the couple made donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Best Friends Animal Society in their recipients names.
Why do you think Justin is the one for Jen? Tell us in comments.
