Taylor Swift Reveals ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ Is About Harry Styles

Another Taylor Swift song mystery solved!

The country superstar has revealed that her current mega-hit, "I Knew You Were Trouble," is about none other than One Direction’s Harry Styles.

In a new interview with the U.K.'s The Sunday Times, the 23-year-old singer opened up about how she harnessed her feelings for her emotional performance of the song at the Brit Awards – for which she donned a wedding dress as her ex sat in the audience.

“Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching,” Swift responded. “You’re balancing the analytical side of your brain, which is telling you where to go and how to go there, with the other side of your brain, which is saying ‘Feel everything you’re singing, and show it on your face. Feel everything exactly as you felt it when you wrote the song.’”

Swift actually wrote “Trouble,” about the first time she and Styles, 18, dated, which was in spring 2012. Coincidentally, the two reconnected not long before she released the song as her third U.S. single from her current album, Red, in November. They then fizzled out once again this past January, just as the song was exploding on radio.

The first single from Red, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” is reportedly about actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The song “Starlight,” is reportedly about her summer romance with Conor Kennedy.
