The Big Apple temporarily doubled as the City of Brotherly Love on Tuesday night, at least for Scarlett Johansson. While hosting the Champions of Rockaway Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser in New York City, the Avengers star hit the red carpet with her twin brother, Hunter, by her side.
This is the first time the siblings have been photographed together since 2012, and the first time they walked a carpet together since 2011. Though Hunter appeared as an extra in Scarlett's 1996 dramedy Manny & Lo, his foray into acting seemed to be nothing more than a blip on the radar and, unlike his famous twin, has remained almost completely out of the public eye for most of his life.
So why did the new mom opt to bring her brother instead of her fiancé, Romain Dauriac, to the event? According to Scarlett, Hunter came along for this rare appearance because it's a cause close to both of their hearts.
"Hunter and I were here in New York — we were 15 years old when September 11 happened, and that was pretty shocking. We thought the city that we grew up in was rock solid, and it shook the foundation of the city — for very different reasons obviously," the 29-year-old actress explained to Us Weekly. "Seeing the city shaken once more [by Hurricane Sandy], it was totally, totally shocking for the people that were living here. Two years later, people are feeling huge effects of this devastating loss."
Scarlett gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Rose Dorothy, just over two months ago, but it seems the thesp hasn't missed a beat getting back into the swing of things. Not only was she out and about hosting this event, but she looked amazing doing it. For the occasion, she chose a blue Proenza Schouler dress with a belted waist and kept her makeup light, letting her natural beauty shine. We'd be remiss if we didn't also mention that her brother's pretty easy on the eyes on himself, not that we're surprised.
Hopefully it won't be another three years before these two lookers team up for a red carpet — and a good cause — again.
