There's nothing more delightful about Taylor Swift than her ever-growing posse of friends, like a millennial Rat Pack. And so, in honor of the fair-tressed Goddess of Friendship's 25th birthday on Dec. 13, here we have ranked her 25 best best friends.
25. Dianna Agron
Taylor and the Glee star were inseperable for the summer of 2012 and Swift even said that her friendship with Agron was part of the inspiration for her music video for "22." But then Agron rolled her eyes at Swift and the two haven't been seen together since. Rest in peace, Tagron.
24. Ellen DeGeneres
OK, so they're not the greatest of friends, but Ellen did help Taylor do some Red promo, so that counts for something.
23. Jeff Bridges
Ever since filming The Giver, Taylor's probably got Jeff Bridges in her cellphone as "dad."
22. Jaime King
"She's my friend who's a mom, you know?" Taylor says to people who ask about their relationship.
21. Hailee Steinfeld
Not quite good enough friends to make it into Taylor's Instagram feed, but she did allow Hailee to post a picture of the two together on her Instagram.
20. Emma Stone
Hey at least she got invited to Taylor's big Fourth of July bash in Rhode Island. It's more that any of us can say!
There's no bond that holds like the one formed when you cram yourself into a van with a bunch of Victoria's Secret models together. (Sort of unrelated but how fire would a Haim/T. Swift collabo be?)
18. That chalkboard Taylor never erases
On the left is a photo from October, taken from a YouTube video of Taylor inviting fans over to her home to get an early preview of 1989. The photo of the right is from Taylor's Instagram, posted in 2013. She loves this F. Scott Fitzgerald quote so much that she just can't bring herself to erase it. On second thought, perhaps #18 is a little low for this beloved chalkboard.
17. Bruce Springsteen
Not just anyone can get the Boss in on a selfie. That is the power of Taylor Swift.
16. Ariana Grande
This friendship is a new one, forged at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, so it could really go either way. But for now, Taylor says Grande "couldn't be any cuter."
Swift and Beyoncé were never really destined to be close, one the Queen of Relatability and the other an untouchable pillar of human perfection. But the two will always have the 2009 VMAs.
14. Amanda Seyfried
"You know obviously I love getting glammed up and going to awards shows or whatever, but it's so nice to have a friend I can just drink beer and watch basketball with, like you," Taylor says to Amanda. Amanda is unsure how to take this.
13. Her braids
Way back when, Taylor Swift was just another girl who wanted all her classmates to know how she'd spent her summer vacation. And Taylor loves remembering those good old days. This picture is her #tbt like every other month.
12. Sarah Hyland
A cool thing about celebrity is that you can be watching your favorite television show and then just point to the TV and say "I want to be friends with that one," and then you can make it happen. That is probably what Taylor Swift did with Sarah Hyland.
11. Ellie Goulding
She would probably be a little higher here, but there's got to be some awkwardness since Ellie Goulding and Taylor's BFF/mentee Ed Sheeran broke up.
10. Lily Aldridge
Taylor Swift really seems to be snatching up Victoria's Secret angels left and right, huh? Have we at least considered that Taylor might be planning to found some sort of a Charlie's Angels-esque detective agency with herself in the Charlie role?
9. no its becky
For the uninitiated, "no its Becky" is a Tumblr meme which started when a user on the site blogged a picture of a young Taylor Swift saying she was a girl named Becky who'd died from snorting marijuana at a party. When another user pointed out that the photo was of a Grammy-winning singer who remained very much alive, another user joked, "no its becky." Cut to this year, when Taylor proved she was not only aware of the meme, but embraced it, wearing a shirt that read "no its becky." It proved that not only does the star use social media, but she gets it, a rarity for a celebrity of her stature.
8. Cara Delevingne
By all accounts, Taylor Swift is a relatively tame 20-something. She bakes cookies. She knits. She owns cats. But every girl's got their wild friend. The one who can convince you to dance on a table somewhere. Who's always saying, "just one more drink, just one more shot." Cara Delevingne is that friend for Taylor Swift and god bless her for it.
7. Lena Dunham
Like a proper millennial friendship, Lena Dunham and Taylor Swift's began on Twitter. Dunham tweeted about how much she liked Red, Swift tweeted about how much she liked Girls, and now they're moving the furniture so they can dance. A true friendship born of the zeitgeist.
6. Ed Sheeran
From the outside looking in, the friendship between Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift looks like a classic rom-com setup. They'll probably end up getting married.
5. Selena Gomez
Selena and Taylor's friendship is perhaps her longest and most storied famous BFF-dom. They've had their ups and their downs, but Selena will always have a spot in the top five.
What a world in which a maybe ageless, ethereal New Zealander and a humble Pennsylvanian who grew up on a Chistmas tree farm can become friends and drink orange juice together and also both record songs for Hunger Games movies.
3. Karlie Kloss
There's really not any question that Karlie Kloss is absolutely Swift's best friend. Karlie's got her own bedroom in Taylor's apartment and the two are nearly inseperable.
2. Her Grammys
But if it's a cold night, and there's no one around, Taylor Swift always has enough Grammys to keeep her company.
1. Olivia Benson
And then there's Olivia, Taylor's cat. Sure she has two of them, but Meredith has been in the doghouse ever since she attacked Taylor's Met Ball gown, and it seems like Olivia is running things in the Swift household now. Here's to best friends.
