While the world was obsessing over the birth of the Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal baby on Monday, another celebrity was able to give birth under the radar.
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem welcomed their second child on July 22 in Madrid, reports the Spanish-language magazine Hola. The "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" actress, 39, gave birth to a daughter at Hospital Ruber Internacional with her actor husband, 44, by her side.
A rep Cruz tells omg! that no official birth announcement has been made. However, director Pedro Almodóvar was photographed outside the hospital on Tuesday. He has long been Cruz's mentor and was with the Oscar-winning actress over the weekend, so it seems certain he'd pay the new mom a visit.
The name of their new addition has not yet been announced — and we don't expect it to be anytime soon. When the fiercely private couple welcomed their son Leo, 2, it was a month before the baby's name leaked — and over a year until Cruz officially confirmed it in an interview.
"I want my son — and my kids if I have more — to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible," Cruz told Vogue in 2011. "The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work that we do doesn't give anybody the right to invade our privacy."
Over the weekend, Cruz and Bardem were spotted at the Los Veranos de la Villa Music Festival in Madrid. Just days before she gave birth, the mom-to-be was rocking high-heel espadrilles, but looked comfortable in jeans, a cream top, and a long jacket.
What do you think they named their daughter? Take guesses below.
