No "Blurred Lines" here.
Nearly a year after Paula Patton and Robin Thicke announced their separation, the 39-year-old actress says she is thankful for where her life is at now. But it hasn't been easy.
"I mean, the honest truth is, it has been challenging. But it's been a year of growth… learning about all new things," she said on Good Morning America on Friday. "I feel like everything happens for a reason… And then you have to move on and grow from there."
Patton officially filed for divorce from her high school sweetheart in October 2014 and asked for joint custody of their 4-year-old son, Julian.
"The thing is, you can't wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child. And they're so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy," Paula shared, adding she doesn't dwell on the negative. "Usually the positive in your life outweighs that and you have to just be thankful for what you have right now."
The timing of Paula's appearance is certainly interesting as it just so happens to coincide with the closing arguments of the "Blurred Lines" trial in which Marvin Gaye's estate has accused Thicke and Pharrell Williams of stealing parts of their hit song, "Blurred Lines," from Gaye's 1977 hit "Got to Give It Up." However, Patton didn't offer up her thoughts on that whole thing.
