How Nick Lachey Really Feels About Turning 40

Nick Lachey was not happy about turning 30 back in 2003.

The former boy bander, still married to Jessica Simpson at the time, was years away from walking down the aisle with Vanessa Minnillo and welcoming their now 1-year-old son Camden.

So it's surprising that the host of "The Sing-Off" is more than OK with turning 40 on November 9 — which happens to be the very same day that his wife of two years turns 33.

"Forty, for most people, it feels like this midlife crisis moment, but I honestly think I had a harder time turning 30 than I feel like I'm going to have turning 40," he reveals to omg!. "I'm more settled and I have a family and everything just feels like it's in its right place, so turning 40 … it's not really impacting me the way I was afraid it would."

"And I think a lot of it's in your mind, too," he adds. "I still feel young, I still feel like I'm active and can do the things I want to do, you know, even though I feel a little sore the next day."

The Cincinnati-raised singer went even further in his predictions for the years to come.

"Honestly, I think the 40s are going to be probably the best decade of my life," he smiles.

So just how will Lachey celebrate his special day? While he and the missus usually spend their shared birthday on vacation, this year will be all about the 40-year-old.

"She's taking a little bit of a backseat, and she's planning a big party," Lachey continues. "That's her kind of sacrifice to give up a little bit of her birthday for me, because it's such a milestone."

Lachey's fans, however, will no doubt spend the day with timeless songs like "The Hardest Thing" and "Because of You" on repeat. Ah, the classics!

Happy birthday, Nick!

And don't forget to tune in to the season premiere of "The Sing-Off" Monday, Dec. 9 on NBC.
