Neither Aniston's nor Theroux's reps have made an official statement — and they may never do so — but TMZ has snagged pictures of the backyard soiree. Aniston reportedly told her guests, including Ellen DeGeneres, Lisa Kudrow, Chelsea Handler, and Howard Stern, that the party was for Theroux's birthday; he'll turn 44 on Monday. However, in the photos, you can clearly see a cake topped with both a male and female puppet. Another pic shows a priest carrying a bible into the house.
"If Jen and Justin feel the need to respond to tabloid and media guess work about a private party held at their home they will let me know," Aniston's rep told Gossip Cop. "In the meantime they will remain private like they usually do."
According to People, the party setup included seating for more than 70 guests and that staffers' phones were confiscated before the big party.
Not only is Aug. 10 Justin's 44th birthday, it's also the third anniversary of the couple's engagement.
Aniston previously joked on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her friends were all on high alert about a potential secret wedding.
"Our friends Sacha [Baron Cohen] and Isla [Fisher] have shown up for four parties, four little gatherings, [in] beautiful wedding wear," she shared. "Even like the Fourth of July last year, they showed up and Sacha was in a powder blue suit and Isla was in a little cute dress. And we were like, 'Guys, it's the Fourth of July. We're in cutoffs and eating hot dogs. We will actually let you know [if we're getting married]!'"
In January, Aniston told InStyle, "There’s a big discussion in our house right now: Do you just do it and say screw it? Or do you try desperately to get away with [a secret ceremony] where you don't have any fun because you’re hiding in a cave somewhere?" Apparently, they settled that debate.
Though the couple first met on the set of Tropic Thunder in 2008, they weren't romantically linked until May 2011. They were engaged in 2012 after a little more than a year of dating. This is the first marriage for Theroux. Aniston was previously married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005.
