On the seventh night of Hanukkah, we celebrate Amal Clooney. Yes, she scored George, the Hollywood bachelor who vowed to never again settle down. But the Lebanese-born, British-based barrister is so much more than just a missus.

We Celebrate Her Chutzpah: We didn't need Barbara Walters to dub her "fascinating" or tell us that George and Amal's star-studded Venice union was 2014's Wedding of the Year. We've lived and breathed it. Over their four-day wedding weekend, we clicked on every photo we saw of the glamour gal. Zoomed in. Studied it. Overanalyzed it. Gushed over her perfect locks and flawless style. She didn't disappoint us, turning the canals into her mobile runway. The 36-year-old may have married an internationally known Oscar winner, but she had her own special Oscar moment.
We Celebrate Her Mitzvoth: While Amal's stunning and stylish, what we really celebrate are her smarts. Sure, she looks good in designer duds, but she's fierce when it comes to her legal career. Did ya know she's representing a country in a legal battle? (She's part of a legal team trying to secure the return of ancient sculptures from Britain to Greece.) The United Nations tried to get her to sit on their Gaza inquiry panel. (She turned down the post.) She was juggling eight big cases at the time she walked down the aisle.
Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, the human rights activist and lawyer is a graduate from Oxford and New York University School of Law. She's represented Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder, as well as Yulia Tymoshenko, a former prime minister of Ukraine. And she has worked with the U.N, serving as counsel to 2013 drones inquiry. (Pardon us a moment while we set our own résumés to private on LinkedIn...)
We Celebrate the Miracle of Amal: We are embarrassed at ourselves for thinking this powerhouse was just "another Clooney girlfriend" when she entered our orbit last year. She's anything but. We think Clooney himself described it best just prior to their wedding when he quipped that he was "marrying up." For once, the funnyman wasn't kidding. She's a true star.
