Despite deflategate and that whole plastic surgery "scandal," it's safe to say that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are doing just fine. The supermodel earned a whopping $44 million in 2015 to retain her post as the highest-paid glamazon in the world… for the ninth year in a row. That's right; Gisele has earned more money than any other model on Earth for nearly a decade. In an industry where women are considered aged once they've hit the wrong side of 25, that's no small feat. But Gisele's domination doesn't stop there.
According to the Forbes list of 2015's top models, the 35-year-old Brazilian isn't just number one: She's number one by a lot. Bündchen — whose earnings come from a pool of beauty and fragrance contracts with elite brands like Chanel and Carolina Herrera, as well as from her lingerie line and jelly sandal collaboration (eek) — clocked nearly five times more than second-place beauties Cara Delevingne and Adriana Lima, who brought in $9 million each. On an interesting side note, NFL quarterback Brady earns about the same as Delevingne, meaning Gisele also earned about five times more than her husband, #girlboss.
Yet even though Delevingne only earned one-fifth of Gisele's haul, 2015 is no-doubt a milestone year for the British beauty who debuted near the tail-end of the rankings in 2014 and shot to second place in just one year. Campaigns for DKNY, Topshop, and YSL beauty, combined with a starring role in Paper Towns and 19 million Instagram followers, helped the 23-year-old star skyrocket in record time.
Rounding out the top five are industry vets Doutzen Kroes, at $7.5 million, and Natalia Vodianova, at $7 million. In comparison, last year, the top five (in order of appearance) were Bündchen, Doutzen, Lima, Kate Moss, and Kate Upton. Interestingly, both Kates tumbled in 2015 with Moss landing in 12th place and Upton in 17th (just behind newbie Kendall Jenner... that's gotta sting).
Karlie Kloss nabbed eighth place and $5 million. Though she recently traded her Victoria's Secret Angel wings for schoolbooks, the 23-year-old has standing deals from powerhouse brands such as Express, Joe Fresh, Kate Spade, and L'Oreal, and has secured a spot in Taylor Swift's squad, which is an achievement all its own. That said, it's unclear how much time Kloss plans to devote to her studies at NYU — or how much her academics might cut into her modeling contracts moving forward.
Kendall Jenner might be this year's Delevingne, making her first appearance on the Forbes roster. Though she (only) earned $4 million, that was enough to make Jenner the 16th highest-paid model on the planet (and highest-paid debut of the year) — which isn't too shabby considering the 19-year-old is also the youngest model on the list and occasionally hangs out with North West.
One famous face who didn't make the cut? Fan favorite and fellow Swift squad member Gigi Hadid, who earned just below the $3.5 million cutoff. Still, depending on what Gisele's "retirement" actually constitutes, 2016's list could look vastly different — but like, it will still look pretty good, though.
