If there had been an award given out last night for Most Fun and Affectionate Real-Life Couple, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi would have been serious contenders.
The pair, married since 2008, lit up the red carpet at Wednesday's People's Choice Awards, appearing to have a better time than many of their famous counterparts. The Favorite Daytime TV Host winner, 56, seemed especially hammy during their date night. At one point DeGeneres, in a cream-and-white pantsuit and sneakers, crouched down to the side and swept her arm out as if to showcase the missus, who had on a flashy blue Zuhair Murad jumpsuit, featuring a low-cut front and back, and heels.

The affectionate pair — who have such individual, unique styles — also posed side by side for some red carpet shots. They did the sweet, couple pics (holding hands! with their arms around each other!), before flipping around and working some sassier over-the-shoulder glamour poses. (Work it, girls!)
Inside the show, there was more PDA. During the broadcast the relaxed and happy couple was seen with their hands intertwined. Still photographers also caught them beaming while holding hands.
What a difference a new year makes! The women, who sweetly celebrate their wedding anniversary each year with skywritten messages, seemed to be plagued by rumors in 2014. In addition to lots of chatter about their marriage being on the rocks, which didn't amount to anything, there were claims that the Scandal actress, 41, spent time in a rehab facility. (The Arrested Development star didn't say either way.) Periodically DeGeneres would address the rumors on her show, denying divorce talk. When de Rossi appeared on the show last fall, they had fun shooting down one report that they were starting a family.
"Did you see [the tabloid headline] says, 'They're finally starting a family'? Are people really that mad at us?" de Rossi asked. DeGeneres replied, "They want us to have a baby... But we're not having a baby. Or are we? We're not."
They've maintained a solid front amid the gossip. In an interview with People magazine last year, DeGeneres gushed, "I love her so much it kills me." A pretty dramatic statement, no? She went on to say, "The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time. It's what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We're really lucky because we know how rare it is."
Sharing laughs seems to be another link between them. Earlier this week, DeGeneres secretly filmed her wife doing Jane Fonda workout tapes. "Oh my God!" de Rossi screamed when she realized she was being filmed. Though she must not have minded that much as Ellen later posted the video online… and lived to tell about it.
Here's hoping they have many more fun, light-hearted moments — on the red carpet and off — in 2015. They're fun to see.
