It's one step forward and one back for Justin Bieber.
As a spokesperson for the singer issues a firm denial about last week's spitting incident, the Canadian crooner is in the spotlight again after U.S. Border Patrol confirms marijuana was found on one of his tour buses.
Omg! has confirmed that the pot bust took place on Sunday as the vehicle, which was not (we repeat not) transporting the 19-year-old at the time, was crossing the Ambassador Bridge from Windsor, Ontario, to Detroit, where Bieber had a show that night at the city's Joe Louis Arena.
“During the secondary inspection, a K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs and a subsequent search of the bus revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia," a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson tells omg!. "Officers seized the marijuana and paraphernalia and issued a penalty to the driver. The bus and passengers were released without further incident.”
Coincidentally, Rihanna's entourage had a similar experience at the same checkpoint back in March. On one of her 10 tour buses — one she wasn't on — an unnamed passenger had pot and was cited.
While Bieber wasn't in possession of the weed in this case ― and not even near it ― earlier this year, the tween heartthrob caused a big stir when he was photographed smoking what appeared to be marijuana. He later apologized for the incident on "Saturday Night Live."
What he won't be apologizing for, however, is last week's spitting incident in which he was photographed launching a loogie over the balcony of his Toronto hotel as three of his buddies looked on. At the time he spit, his fans were lining the streets below and there was speculation as to whether he hit (or intended to hit) any of them.
Well, his rep is speaking out about the incident and saying absolutely not. While it is clear that he spit over the balcony ― as the photos show ― he wasn't using Beliebers as target practice.
"Justin didn't spit on anyone," his rep told Us Weekly. "In fact, earlier in the day, Justin bought his fans hot chocolate and played them some of his new music. Justin loves his fans."
A rep for the singer did not yet respond to omg!'s request for comment on either Bieber-related topic, but the singer himself has already moved on … to the Big Apple.
We'll consider ourselves warned.
