Kristen Stewart’s advice for taking a good red carpet photo

When you think of Hollywood women who really shine in photographs, whether they're taken on the street or at a fancy movie premiere, chances are that Kristen Stewart isn't the first person that comes to mind. The "Twilight" star, 22, is known for wearing sneakers, jeans, and — let's be honest — a scowl almost all the time. She's much fancier and increasingly fashionable at red carpet events, yet she still rarely wears a smile. Although she's not the most photogenic leading lady, Stewart offers her best secret to taking great pics in a new interview with fashion website Refinery 29. "I think the biggest thing is to like what you're wearing," she says. "But, in reality, I'm not very comfortable taking pictures, so I just try to get through it. Recently, though, I've had to do a lot of 'On The Road' stuff, and I've been incredibly comfortable, not because there's a personal pride thing, but because I'm so proud of everyone, and to be a part of this group. So, I guess the secret to taking good pictures is to have a good reason to do it. Just stand tall, man! I know that's funny coming from me, but it's true!"

No matter what she's promoting, KStew explains that she finds it particularly awkward to strike a pose. "God, if I ever see my hand on hip, I'm like 'stop it!'" she says. She must have been wringing her hands over images of her in a Zuhair Murad dress at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival that showed her with, yep, hand on hip! The "Snow White and The Huntsman" star was also (gasp!) smiling in those shots.

Off the red carpet, Stewart insists that her wardrobe is much more interesting than the one we see her wearing in paparazzi photos. "The reason you see me wearing simple clothes is because I don't want to give [the paparazzi] anything," Stewart says. "Literally, I go outside every day in the same thing, so they can't say anything. So, it seems like I don't put any thought into it, but I recently put all my stuff in one area and obsessively, OCD-style, arranged all of my stuff. Like such a girl!" Stewart also notes that her everyday look is evolving. "And you might be surprised, but I do have more than a white T-shirt and a pair of jeans; I actually have some cool stuff!" she says. "And I think I'm going to start using it. As I get older, I get more comfortable, and I'm finding those things that define me. Before, it really was just a T-shirt and jeans, but now, it's changing."

KStew will hit plenty of red carpets next month before the final "Twilight" movie is released on November 16. Everyone will be watching how she and co-star Robert Pattinson, her longtime love, will act toward each other following Stewart's cheating scandal in July.
