Alexa Ray Joel has a whole new look. The daughter of musician Billy Joel and former supermodel Christie Brinkley revealed Wednesday that she had a nose job earlier this month. "I was thinking about getting this for years," Joel shared with People magazine.
The spitting image of her musician dad (and not her model mom,) Joel says she's happy with the subtle tweak to her features, admitting to People, "I was thinking about getting this for years." Her nose, she added, "always bothered me a little bit. I was self-conscious of pictures taken from the side. To some people that's vain, but at the end of the day, we all want to feel pretty."
Just last December, a distraught Joel overdosed on Traumeel, a homeopathic medication, following a breakup with her boyfriend. Since her brief hospitalization, it looks like the 24-year-old singer has given her life an overhaul. A well as the rhinoplasty, Joel commenced working on her first album, and filmed a TV commercial for Prell shampoo.
The Prell spot sparked a whole new round of comparisons to Brinkley, who was the face of the hair care brand back in the 1980s. Star magazine reports that the "Uptown Girl" and her daughter share more than just shampoo ads, claiming that at the same time Joel had her nose job, Brinkley checked in for a mini face-lift. If their story is true, at least Alexa had someone to hang out with while the bruising went down!
Hopefully Joel will be content with her new profile. She swears she's done with plastic surgery. "Would I do anything else to my body? No. It's not 10 procedures like Heidi Montag. For me, that's a little extreme, but to each her own."
As for the timing of the surgery? "Would it have been smart to get this procedure last year?" she asks rhetorically, referring to her overdose. "No. I didn't know who I was." And now? "I feel really good."
