Blink-182 Releases Emotional Song 'One More Time' About the Band's Reunion: Watch Video

On Thursday, the rockers dropped the second single off their first album featuring the group's original lineup since 2011

After nearly a year, Blink-182 is ready to rock again with another new single.

On Thursday, the alternative band featuring Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge released “One More Time,” the second single off their recently announced album of the same name, due Oct. 20 via Columbia Records.

Unlike their riotous single “Edging,” which dropped in October 2022, “One More Time” is a more emotional, pop-punk ballad. An appropriate comeback track, the stripped-down song explores the challenges the rock group experienced before officially reuniting with their original lineup in 2022.

“I wish they told us it shouldn’t take a sickness / Or airplanes falling out the sky,” Hoppus, 51, lulls on the song, referring to when he was diagnosed with lymphoma in April 2021 and Barker, 47, survived a plane crash in 2008.

“Do you have to die to hear you say goodbye / Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye? / I don't want to act like there's tomorrow / I don't want to do this one more time,” DeLonge, 47, then powerfully croons on the chorus.

"One More Time" dropped along with its music video, which sees the band performing in a room together again. Once each member joins in, the space transforms into footage of iconic moments in their career, from their TRL and Vans Warped Tour appearances to their music videos, until the visual entirely turns into clips of the group in their youth — as if the past and present are still very much intwined.

The “All the Small Things” group announced the track and their first album with the band's original lineup since 2011 on Monday by sharing a teaser for an upcoming, extensive interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music.

At one point in the teaser, Barker said of the new single, “On the album, ‘One More Time’ is kind of written about, ‘Why does it take these catastrophes or me being in a plane crash or Mark being sick for us to get back together?’”

Seven years after DeLonge exited Blink-182 in 2015, the rockers reunited with their full original lineup last year by dropping “Edging” and announced a world tour that goes through April 6, 2024.

Previously, the co-lead vocalist and guitarist role had been filled in by Alkaline Trio member Matt Skiba, who toured with the group and appeared on their seventh and eighth studio albums (2016’s California and 2019’s Nine).

After rescheduling what was supposed to be the first leg of their tour in Latin America so Barker could undergo finger surgery, the “What’s My Age Again?” band’s reunion officially kicked off at Coachella where they played last minute headlining sets at both festival weekends.

Their world tour then continued with dates across North America throughout the spring and summer. The pop-punk legends also recently resumed their European dates following a brief postponement when Barker flew home to be with his wife Kourtney Kardashian, as she experienced pregnancy complications.

Hoppus spoke to PEOPLE in August 2022 about his journey becoming cancer free and collaborating with the original trio again.

“Everybody’s in a great place now,” he said.

"It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in like five years," the bassist and co-vocalist continued. "It's actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room."
