‘Bless This Mess’: Ed Begley Jr. To Star In Fox Comedy Pilot From Lake Bell & Liz Meriwether

Ed Begley Jr. has been tapped for a lead role opposite Lake Bell and Dax Shepard in Bless This Mess, Fox’s single-camera comedy pilot from New Girl creator Liz Meriwether, which has Bell attached to star, co-write and direct.

Written by Meriwether and Bell, Bless This Mess centers on a newlywed couple — Rio (Bell) and Mike (Shepard) — that gives up their drab and unfulfilling lives in NYC and moves to Nebraska to live a simpler life. It doesn’t work out like they planned.

Begley will play Rudy, a strong, silent type who’s known Mike as a child and now lives on a barn on Mike and Rio’s farm.

Bell and Meriwether executive produce with Katherine Pope, Shepard and Erin O’Malley.

The pilot will film in June to accommodate Bell’s feature schedule and won’t be in consideration for fall.
