Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani needed some special forces to get them out of the Super Bowl.

The "God's Country" musician, 47, and his No Doubt rocker wife, 54, debuted their their new duet "Purple Irises" live during a Super Bowl LVIII TikTok Tailgate event in Las Vegas and apparently had some assistance leaving the game.

On Sunday night, Shelton posted a photo of himself with his wife on X (formerly known as Twitter) surrounded by members of the United States Air Force's Thunderbirds in uniform.

"That time THE THUNDERBIRDS ran security to get us out of the SuperBowl," the country singer wrote on the platform. "You can’t make this up. Thanks yall!!!! #SuperBowlLVIII."

For their performance on Sunday, Shelton joined Stefani with his guitar where they sang for a large live crowd at the tailgate event. The "Ol' Red" artist wore a simple black monochromatic look, while the "Luxurious" musician embraced a Wild West look. Stefani donned a black and white look that featured light pink satin open chaps — and her platinum blonde hair was seen in a high ponytail.

After she and her husband debuted their new track, the Grammy winner performed a few of her classics, including "I'm Just a Girl" and "Hollaback Girl" — with help from the crowd.

Just two days before their performance together, the pair released the vulnerable track, which appears to pay homage to their relationship.

The song goes: "But if someone comes along and tries to / Love you like I do / Don't know what I'd do / Don't want to lose you," she sings, later adding: "No, I never knew a love like this. Now we're picking / Purple irises."

Shelton and Stefani have teamed up on tracks in the past. They've joined forces for country collaborations "Nobody But You" and "Happy Anywhere," which have both gone No. 1, as well as the holiday hit "You Make It Feel Like Christmas" in 2017.

"He's changed my life ... when I [started dating] Blake, that's when I felt home, like, 'Oh, this is where I'm supposed to be, with this guy," Stefani told PEOPLE last year of her relationship with Shelton.

The three-time Grammy winner has special musical plans of her own this spring, as she's set to reunite with her band No Doubt at Coachella,

“It just happened so fast, and that's my favorite kind of thing to happen. We haven't really figured out the next steps of how we're going to do this, but we're just all so excited," Stefani told PEOPLE last month. "And I think really just watching the internet blow up [with] how excited that the fans are? It's inspiring us."
