Blake Lively is the youngest of five kids — and they’re all actors

Blake Lively was born to be an actress, even if she didn’t know it at first.

The Gossip Girl alum comes from a film-focused family, and she was actually the last of her siblings to start acting. She was born to her parents, mom Elaine Lively, a talent agent, and dad Ernie Lively, who was both an actor and acting coach.

Before Blake, Elaine welcomed daughters Lori and Robyn and son Jason with her first husband, Ronnie Lively.

Born in 1966, Lori is the eldest of the Lively clan, with brother Jason arriving shortly after in 1968 and Robyn following in 1972. After divorcing Ronnie, Elaine married Ernie Lively in 1979, who adopted her older children. Elaine and Ernie welcomed Blake’s older brother, Eric, in 1981. The baby of the family, Blake was born in 1987, resulting in a pretty significant age gap between her and her older siblings.

But that age gap didn’t keep them from being close, especially as they got older. Coming from a family of actors, Blake was able to be surrounded by some of them when she started off. Ernie played the father of her character in her breakout role as Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and she joined her siblings in other projects, like Simon Says.

It all goes back to family,” Blake told PEOPLE. “It has always been the most important thing in my life — everything I do is at the heart of it.”

Here’s everything to know about Blake Lively’s siblings — Lori, Robyn, Jason and Eric Lively — and their relationship with their actress sister.

They grew up in Burbank

Blake comes from a Hollywood family, but she says they grew up rather normally.

“I have a big, close, loving family, and they’re all from the South, but because so many of them are actors, everyone was very normal about it. It was just like any job to them. They always came home and talked about it around the dinner table the way any family talks about work, but it wasn’t anything special,” she told Ben Affleck in a profile for Interview Magazine in August 2010.

The Town star also described growing up in Burbank as living in “a small town inside of a big city,” and said she didn’t feel like she “ever had any sort of Hollywood upbringing.”

Despite having a sizable age gap from her older siblings, Blake said it didn't impact their relationship.

“I have a big family and no one ever treated me like a child. They always treated me like an adult, like an equal,” she added.

The youngest of the family, Blake was the last of her siblings to become an actress. Born to parents in the industry, with a talent agent mother and an actor father, the Lively siblings' Hollywood ambitions made sense.

Blake’s older brother Eric is known for portraying Mark Wayland in the second season of The L Word, as well as his roles in the 2004 drama film Speak and the Disney Channel sci-fi series So Weird.

Older sister Robyn is beloved for her role as Louise Miller in the 1989 film Teen Witch. She also played Jessica Andrews in The Karate Kid Part III, and she later reprised her character for the Netflix spinoff series Cobra Kai.

Meanwhile, brother Jason starred in the pilot episode of The Dukes of Hazzard in 1979 and went on to act in films like National Lampoon’s European Vacation and Night of the Creeps, in which Blake’s sister Lori also appeared.

Blake got to share the screen with sisters Lori and Robyn, as well as their dad, Ernie, in the 2006 slasher film Simon Says. The project was one of Blake’s first roles after Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Although Blake debated a career on the silver screen, she credited her brother Eric for being supportive. The Simple Favor star revealed that when she was 15 years old, they traveled around Europe together and he often quizzed her on what she wanted to do in the future.

“Because of my interests, he decided that I should be a film producer," the mother of four told Interview Magazine. "I did not want to be an actor because my whole family did it — going into the family business was the last thing I wanted to do."

Still, she was intrigued by the opportunity, and her brother convinced her to go to an audition, which quickly turned into several. "I didn’t have an agent … But after a few auditions, I got The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which was my first job,” she added.

She spent time on movie sets with her family

While Blake wasn’t convinced she wanted to be in front of the camera, she did enjoy the perks of having sisters and brothers in the business.

“I got to travel and visit my family on set. I got to eat craft service," she told Interview Magazine. "I actually think that was the reason I got into acting: free food. I literally remember on my first job being like, ‘Yes! I get to have craft service every day!’ ”

Because of her parents' and siblings' Hollywood careers, Blake spent time on movie sets before she was the one starring in the movies, as proven by a sweet Instagram photo of Blake as a baby with her big sister Robyn on the Teen Witch set.

Robyn’s husband, Bart, also remembers Blake visiting her sister during filming when she was young.

“It’s really gone a long way since Robyn was on ‘Savannah’ and Blake would come to hang out on set as a little girl. Now it feels like that age gap has closed,” he said, speaking to Fox News Digital.

Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds first met when they were both starring in Green Lantern, but she’s not the only one of her siblings to marry a fellow actor.

Robyn is married to actor Bart Johnson, whom she worked with on the 2022 film Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters.

"To be able to play husband and wife was so much fun. It was really, really special,” Robyn told PEOPLE. “We had the best time. Thankfully, we're saying it was an incredible experience and not the opposite!"

Johnson is also known for starring as Coach Bolton in the Disney Channel High School Musical movie franchise, as well as appearing in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

While Blake and Robyn are 15 years apart in age, the sisters are very close.

"There’s a significant age gap which feels almost nonexistent because she’s now a mom," Robyn told Fox News Digital.

She continued: "We have so many similarities. Our relationship is on a deeper level. We used to help each other with our projects and lines, things like that. Now we’re doing the mom thing together."

Robyn’s husband has also commented on his wife’s closeness with her sister. "I’ll say from my perspective, they're like the same person," he said. "They’ve got the same energy and the same sense of humor. They’re also so connected and love each other so much."

Johnson added, “[Robyn and Blake] share the love and the passion for motherhood. They’re best friends. It’s such a charming friendship. It’s a beautiful thing."

Robyn called Blake her best friend in a heartfelt birthday Instagram post in 2022, writing, “You’re kinda special to me.”

She also gave Blake a special, personalized cake for the occasion, which Blake shared on her Instagram Story, saying it was “making [her] emotional.”

Blake and her siblings have a combined total of 10 kids

Blake and her brood of siblings have kids of their own.

Blake and Reynolds are the parents of four children: James, Inez, Betty and a fourth child whom they welcomed in February 2023.

Meanwhile, Robyn has three children with Johnson: Kate, Wyatt and Baylen. Their older brother Jason is also a dad to three sons: Luke, Bo and Jake.

Blake has spoken about how important her family is to her, including her siblings’ children.

“My parents, my siblings, my daughter, my husband, my nieces and nephews — that’s where I get very mama bear,” she told Marie Claire in June 2016, explaining her protective side.

“There are two ways to look at it. You could look at it as, ‘That’s what I’m vulnerable about.’ But also, ‘That’s the thing that excites me in the world.’ "

Robyn has also shared that she and Blake have very strong bonds with each other’s kids.

“I genuinely feel like her children are mine as if I gave birth to them, and vice versa,” she told Fox News Digital. “We’re like, ‘Your children are mine too’. Our relationship has only gotten richer and fuller.”
