Blake Lively Gave Ryan Reynolds a Present So Great He’d Save It Before Her in a Fire

They might like to playfully poke each other on social media, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t super-sweet behind closed doors — Ryan Reynolds shared his “greatest gift” from Blake Lively ever, and it’s way more touching than one might imagine given their typical light-hearted online repartee. In fact, Reynolds basically admitted he loves the present more than Lively (okay, so maybe these two can’t help trolling each other).

In all seriousness, though, the 42-year-old Deadpool star took to Instagram on Thursday to share that Lively, 31, had commissioned a custom work of art for her husband from Los Angeles-based artist Danny Galieote. “My first job was delivering newspapers for the Vancouver Sun. The house in the painting is my childhood home. My brothers and I spent years trying to kill each other on that lawn,” Reynolds captioned a photo of himself with the custom artwork, elaborating, “There are a lot of Easter eggs in the painting, including my idol, John Candy on the front page of the newspaper. The house no longer stands but it’s a living, breathing thing in my head.”

Reynolds then gave a nod to Galieote before joking, “If there’s ever a fire, I’m grabbing this first. I’ll come back for Blake.”

Could these two be any cuter? Since Reynolds birthday isn’t until October, it’s unclear if the gift was for another occasion or simply a random romantic gesture on Lively’s part. Or perhaps it’s in celebration of Reynolds becoming a dad three-times-over — after all, the painting clearly speaks to the nostalgia of childhood.

News broke back in May that the couple would be adding a third child to their brood, with the new bundle joining big sisters James, 4, and Inez, 2 ½. “They are so happy and excited about having another baby,” a source told People. “They really are the most in-love and in-tune couple, and very hands-on parents. They’d have a dozen kids if they could.”

Reynolds also revealed at the time that he and Lively don’t shoot movies simultaneously, saying, “We operate as a family unit, and that works really well for us. The kids stay with us, and the family stays together, and that is where home is. So, if we are in Spain or Utah or New York, as long as we are together, we’re home.”
