Marvel’s Blade featuring Mahershala Ali is another MCU project reportedly stuck in development limbo. After recent rumors, many fans are wondering if Marvel has delayed or canceled the film entirely. Here’s all you need to know about the release of MCU’s Blade.
Has MCU’s Blade been canceled by Marvel?
No, Marvel has not canceled the MCU Blade movie.
Rumors of its cancelation began with EmpireCity Box Office’s recent tweet. The Twitter handle is known for covering box office reports and it tweeted a supposed scoop suggesting that Marvel is not moving forward with Blade and Thunderbolts anymore.
Hearing that @Disney and @MarvelStudios are not moving forward with #THUNDERBOLTS once the strike is over this week. Also hear that #Blade is in serious jeopardy as well.

However, industry insider Daniel Richtman turned it down claiming that the scoop isn’t true:
Not true. https://t.co/5GknHnLdcE

The Blade project hasn’t had the smoothest development process ever since Mahershala Ali’s casting was announced in 2019. He reportedly wasn’t satisfied with the script and was demanding changes earlier in 2023. A few months later, the WGA strike happened and Blade’s scripting process was halted.
Whether the release date gets pushed back remains to be seen.
Is Blade delayed again?
Blade currently holds its February 14, 2025 release date, but it could be moved to accommodate Thunderbolts.
It was initially scheduled for November 3, 2023, and got pushed to September 6, 2024, after a directorial change. Following another altercation, Blade finally got its 2025 release date. But with its script still not ready and Thunderbolts potentially needing a delay, Blade could be moved again to a later date in 2025.

Meanwhile, Blade’s February 14, 2025 release date could be allotted to Thunderbolts. But nothing is confirmed at the moment of writing.
Marvel Studios is expected to reveal a new release schedule after the SGA strike gets lifted. We will certainly get more clarity on Blade’s release when that happens.
